Some cool Windows xp tweaks to increase PC performance

Windows XP boot faster:  

1. Open notepad.exe, type "del c: \ windows \ prefetch \ ntosboot-*.* / q" (without the quotes) and save as "ntosboot.bat" in c: \

2. On the Start menu, select "Run ..." And type "gpedit.msc".

3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and double click again on "off" in the right window.

4. In the new window, click "add", "Search", find the "ntosboot.bat" file and
click "Open."

5. Click "OK" or "OK" and "OK" again to exit.

6. On the Start menu, select "Run ..." And type "devmgmt.msc".

7. Double click on "IDE ATA / ATAPI"

8. Click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties."

9. Select "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device 0 or 1 that he has "the type of device" grayed out select 'none' instead of "automatically detect" and click "OK."

10. Click on "Secondary IDE Channel" and select "Properties" and repeat step 9.

11. Restart your computer.

 

 

Increase Computer Response Time

Indexing services is a small little program that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexes and updates lists of all files on your computer. This is done so that when you do a search for something on your computer, search faster by scanning the index lists. If you do not search your computer often, or even if you search often, this system service was completely unnessesary.

1.Go to Start
2.Click Settings
3.Click Control Panel
4 Double-click Add / Remove Programs
5 Click the Add / Remove Windows Components
6.Uncheck the Indexing Service
7.Click Next
That's it, you have now uninstalled the Indexing service, your system will not have more RAM and be more sensitive

 

 

Correcting System Hang on startup

If your system hangs about 2 or 3 minutes at startup, where you can not access the Start button or the Taskbar, it may be due to a specific service (for Background Intelligent Transfer) running in background. Microsoft released a patch for this, but it did not work for me. This is what you do:

1. Click Start / Run, type "msconfig" and click 'OK'.
2. Go to the Services tab, find the service "Background Intelligent Transfer", disable it, apply changes and reboot.

 

 

Improve your PC  gaming performance

For users with 256 MB of RAM or more change this Game and increase your Windows performance.
What it does: It tells Windows not to use any Swap File until there is really no more free RAM left.  

Open the system configuration, type msconfig.exe in the RUN command. There in your System.ini you have to add "ConservativeSwapfileUsage = 1" in the 386enh.

Restart Windows and enjoy better game performance.
